Why do I need Insurance?

We understand that you may have chosen to place your valuables in a safe deposit centre for a number of different reasons but mainly for the additional security. Unfortunately, no matter how secure the centre may be, incidents are still a possibility. Most famously, in 2015 Hatton Garden Safe Deposit Ltd was broken into and a reported £14 million was stolen with only a third being recovered.

This type of robbery is where the thieves hold either a customer or a member of staff hostage to carry out a robbery on their behalf. In 2009 the Bank of Ireland experienced a theft of this nature where thieves were able to steal US$9 million by holding a member of staff’s family hostage whilst the employee carried out the burglary.

Although rare, Fire and Flood incidents do occur from time to time. Our policy will cover your contents in the unfortunate event that this happens.

All of our policies since July 2023 automatically include Key Cover. Most centres will charge for replacing keys or drilling locks. Here at Noble security Box Insurance, we will cover up to £250 for keys and locks to be replaced. There is no excess when making a Key Cover claim.

All of our policies are in your name, not the centre or bank where you box is located. This means in the event of any claim the insurance will deal directly with you so the centre or bank will never need to know the contents of your safe deposit box.

Please note that this insurance cover only applies while your belongings are stored inside an approved safe deposit box centre or bank vault. If you remove your belongings from the approved safe deposit box centre or bank vault, insurance cover will cease on those items; if you then return the items to the approved safe deposit box centre or bank vault cover will recommence.

Wear Cover


For additional peace of mind cover can also be extended (subject to an additional premium) to include periods in which contents such as jewellery are taken out of your safe deposit box to be worn (ideal for special occasions, weddings and social events).

  • Cover up to 30 days per year.
  • Lower rates available if you wish to specify the items that you are taking out of the safe deposit box.
  • Items can be covered up to £100,000 outside of the safe deposit centre.
  • Your items will be insured anywhere in the UK as long as you are carrying them, wearing them, or they are in a locked safe.
  • Wear Cover can be added at any point.
